Guide to KPM Bursary

LAST UPDATED: 17 June 2023

From 2012 to 2015, the KPM Bursary was offered to SPM 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 students obtained 9A+ or above. The KPM Bursary sponsored for pre-university programmes which included A Level, International Baccalaureate (IB), STPM, Matriculation and Foundation at selected colleges in Malaysia. It was guaranteed that every student who met the requirements would be offered the KPM Bursary, so there was no selection process involved.

After completing the pre-university programme under the KPM Bursary, students would be offered the Program Lepasan Bursary which sponsored for degree courses if they met the requirements. Previously, the Program Lepasan Bursary sponsored for both local and overseas universities, but since 2016, it only sponsored for local universities.

In 2016, the KPM Bursary was replaced by the Program Bursary. The Program Bursary was offered to SPM 2015 students who obtained 9A+ or above.

In 2017, the Program Bursary was replaced by the Program Penajaan 9A+. The Program Penajaan 9A+ was offered to SPM 2016, 2017 and 2018 students who obtained 9A+ or above.

In 2020, the Program Penajaan 9A+ was replaced by the Program Khas Lepasan SPM Dalam Negara. The Program Khas Lepasan SPM Dalam Negara is offered to SPM 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 students who obtained 9A+ or above. Unlike the KPM Bursary, Program Bursary and Program Penajaan 9A+, the Program Khas Lepasan SPM Dalam Negara requires students who meet the requirements to attend and pass the Student Assessment Centre (SAC).
